Mud, Sweat & Tears


"Mud, Sweat & Tears" was a celebration of the Potters' Guild of Las Cruces 25th Anniversary held at the Las Cruces Museum of Art May 5-30, 2006.  Claude W. Smith III, Expressive Arts Department Chair, Silver City, NM was the juror.  Fifty one pieces were submitted by forty five past and current members.  Local sponsors contibuted $635 in prizes.  Four pieces sold.


Best of Show Award went to Klyf Brown for "Archeological Find".  This was a $150 cash award presented by the Potters' Guild of Las Cruces.  The Potters' Guild Award of Excellence went to Suzanne Kane for "Cuchera", a $100 cash award.  The Potters' Guild Award for Outstanding Work was given to Estelle Goldman for "Bowl".  This was also a $100 cash award.


Other winners included Linda Reeder-Sanchez for "Running with Wolves", Richard Rising for "Desert Mirage", Michelle Arterburn for "Autumn Leaf Bowl", Teresa Altschul for "Tropical Duck", Janice Cook for "Talking About Crocodiles", Cindy Waddell for "Guernica After Picasso" and Glenn Schwaiger for "Datura".
